Inspection

Every vehicle offered for sale in the Subaru Certified Pre-Owned vehicle program has been thoroughly inspected using a 152-point process, with comprehensive testing on a full range of criteria. Subaru technicians check the vehicles from nose-to-tail, performing extensive tests under the hood and inside the cabin. Here's a rundown of the items that are checked:

Under the Hood – The engine compartment is inspected before and after road testing. All critical components are checked, including the radiator, alternator, battery, water pump, A/C compressor, starter, and CV joints, as well as the exhaust system and suspension components. All fluids are checked and filled, if necessary.

Inside the Cabin – The interior is thoroughly scrutinized. The upholstery, carpet, and floor mats are cleaned and checked for burns, tears, and abnormal wear. Switches and technology are checked for proper operation and the cabin air filter is checked/replaced.

Exterior – Subaru technicians meticulously inspect each vehicle's exterior. The body must be rust-free, with no holes or cracks in the body and bumpers. The paint is thoroughly checked for chips, scratches, dings, and dents. There must be no more than two chips per body panel and any chip larger than 1/4-inch must be repaired. Any scratches through the paint to primer must be repaired. All bulbs are verified to be functional and all wiper blades are replaced. The tires and brakes are fully examined.

• The program extends the limited powertrain warranty to 7 years / 100,000 miles (from the date of original purchase when new). This includes the engine, transmission, and all-wheel-drive components, where applicable.
• There is no deductible for covered repairs when performed at a Subaru dealer.
• Two 7-year / 100,000 mile wrap-around plans are offered. The Classic plan covers all major mechanical component areas. The Gold Plus plan is similar to the basic factory bumper-to-bumper coverage.
